Gwangjin District Council Joins Gwangjin Disaster Recovery Private Council Inauguration Ceremony on 28th, Pledges Cooperation for Disaster Recovery

Gwangjin District Council Joins Launch of 'Gwangjin District Disaster Recovery Private Council'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] With the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of cooperation and solidarity among various sectors of society to overcome disasters is once again emerging.

The public-private synergy demonstrated during crisis situations, such as quarantine activities and COVID-19 prevention campaigns carried out throughout local communities, has become a hidden driving force of the COVID era beyond the government's capabilities.

On the 28th, Gwangjin-gu launched a private disaster recovery council, bringing together various residents from 10 organizations including related local organizations, professional groups, self-governing organizations, medical and cultural sectors, after about two months of preparation since the COVID-19 crisis intensified at the end of July. The council aims to pool public and private sector capabilities for disaster recovery and encourage voluntary participation and cooperation from the private sector.

Chairman Park Sam-rye, who attended the launch ceremony, emphasized that to prepare for increasingly complex and unpredictable disasters, the power and wisdom of everyone, including the government, local governments, and the private sector, are essential. He urged that starting with the launch of the private disaster recovery council, the public and private sectors should cooperate with one heart and mind in every large and small crisis, including COVID-19, to become a driving force for overcoming crises.

Additionally, the council stated that the assembly will consider its role in the post-COVID era and strive to create synergy in cooperation among the executive branch, assembly members, and residents.
