With a history of 74 years, it is a representative private university in the Honam region, having produced about 300,000 alumni. Although an anniversary ceremony has been held every year on September 29, this year’s in-person ceremony was canceled due to COVID-19. Instead, a commemorative video was produced.
The video vividly showcases the past and present scenes of the Chosun University campus, followed by commemorative speeches from Kim Isu, Chairman of the Chosun University Foundation Board, and Min Youngdon, President of Chosun University, as well as a congratulatory address from Lee Minsu, President of the Alumni Association.

Kim Junyeon, President of the Student Council, also delivers a congratulatory message.

Notably, this year, a special President’s Merit Award was given to three employees, including Kim Gwonsu, for their efforts in COVID-19 prevention.
The Baekak Academic Award and Baekak Industry-Academia Cooperation Award, which honor faculty members with outstanding achievements in research, writing, and creative activities contributing to academic development and industry-academia cooperation, were also presented. The 74th anniversary commemorative video of Chosun University can be viewed on the official YouTube channel and Facebook page of Chosun University.
In his commemorative speech, Kim Isu, Chairman of the Chosun University Foundation Board, said, “Since its founding, Chosun University has faced numerous hardships and adversities, but it was able to overcome them through the participation of its members. The road toward the 100th anniversary is long and arduous, but if all members work together with one heart based on the founding spirit of our university, as the lyrics of our school song say, ‘If the mountain is blocking the way, you can’t go over it,’ there will be nothing impossible.”
Lee Minsu, President of the Chosun University Alumni Association, stated, “I congratulate our alma mater on its 74th anniversary together with 300,000 alumni. Although Chosun University has experienced internal conflicts over a long period, a new president was democratically elected, a governing board system was established, and a blueprint for university structural reform has been prepared, marking a new opportunity.”
President Min Youngdon said, “Based on the management achievements accumulated over a long period, Chosun University has established a mid- to long-term development plan through in-depth consultations with members and advice from experts. Based on this, we will continuously reflect changes in the educational environment, government higher education policies, and regional community demands to realize the university’s blueprint.”
He added, “We will utilize our university’s excellent education and research infrastructure to build an outstanding model of an industry-academia-research cluster that leads to corporate growth, youth job creation, and regional development.”
