Kookmin Bank Produces Commemorative Video for the 100th Anniversary of Yu Gwansun's Martyrdom

Produced as part of the 'Daehan Is Alive' campaign

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 28th that it has produced and released a video honoring the life of Yu Gwan-sun on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her martyrdom. This day marks the 100th anniversary of Yu Gwan-sun’s death at Seodaemun Prison.

The video was produced as part of KB Kookmin Bank’s ‘Daehan Isarada’ campaign. It was planned by Professor Seo Kyung-duk and narrated by actress So Yi-hyun. The video introduces traces of Yu Gwan-sun and memorial spaces established across the country, once again honoring her spirit. It is available with Korean and English subtitles on KB Kookmin Bank’s YouTube channel.

Professor Seo, who planned the video, stated, “To commemorate the 100th anniversary of her martyrdom, we created this video to widely introduce Yu Gwan-sun’s patriotism and spirit of peace not only domestically but also overseas.” A KB Kookmin Bank official said, “We produced this video to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Yu Gwan-sun’s martyrdom, which inspired the Daehan Isarada campaign. We hope that the noble spirit of sacrifice of Yu Gwan-sun and other independence activists will serve as a foundation for overcoming national crises.”

Meanwhile, KB Kookmin Bank has been conducting the Daehan Isarada campaign, an independence movement commemorative project, since last year.

Representative projects include the Daehan Isarada video, which recreates a song sung by seven female independence activists imprisoned in Seodaemun Prison shortly after the March 1st Movement, and the “Youth of 11 Independence Heroes” exhibition depicting the youth of 11 independence heroes. Additionally, through the Daehan Isarada bankbook issuance campaign, KB Kookmin Bank donates 3,000 KRW per issued bankbook, accumulating up to 300 million KRW to support the livelihood stability of independence patriots and scholarship projects for their descendants.
