The Chungju (Changwon-bound) Rest Area on the Jungbu Naeryuk Expressway, managed by Korea Expressway Corporation, is making every effort to prevent COVID-19 infections that may occur within this multi-use highway rest area facility.
Upon entering the store, customers are first greeted by a staff member wearing a KF94 mask, nitrile sanitary gloves, and a droplet-blocking acrylic cap, who guides them to fill out a registration form. Entry is allowed only after a fever check is conducted using a contactless, unmanned thermometer.
For ordering, two unmanned ticket vending machines that support contactless ordering are in operation, and ordering through a staffed counter with a droplet-blocking acrylic shield is also available.
All restaurants in the dining area have acrylic shields installed on tables to block droplets, and single-row seating is implemented to help prevent COVID-19. The Chungju Rest Area operates separate entrances and exits, and floor markings indicating entrances, exits, convenience stores, restrooms, and other key stores are installed to assist customers and minimize their time spent inside the rest area.
Additionally, restrooms, where customer concentration is high, are staffed with personnel wearing protective suits to encourage social distancing. Using a vacancy notification DID system, staff promptly guide customers to available stalls, reducing congestion.
Considering the nature of takeout sales during the upcoming Chuseok holiday, Chungju Rest Area has developed about 10 types of lunchboxes so that customers who cannot dine inside the store can comfortably eat in their vehicles. The menu development has been fully completed.
Kim Byunghwan, manager of Chungju (Changwon-bound) Rest Area, stated, “As safety is more important than ever during this emphasized Chuseok holiday, our Chungju Rest Area is fully prepared to ensure customers can use our facilities with peace of mind. We will strictly adhere to government guidelines and quarantine rules to provide a system where customers can visit comfortably and confidently.”
