Yeonggwang-gun Strengthens Social Distancing During Chuseok Holiday 'Special Quarantine Period'

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 28th that it conducted education on special quarantine period measures for senior officials at the county office conference room.

The government designated a special quarantine period for Chuseok, expecting an increase in homecoming and travel from the metropolitan area to other regions, with many people gathering at entertainment facilities, pubs, and tourist spots among family and acquaintances. Strengthened social distancing measures were applied from midnight on the same day.

The main social distancing measures include ▲ prohibition of private and public gatherings, meetings, and events with 50 or more people indoors and 100 or more people outdoors ▲ closure of six types of high-risk facilities including entertainment pubs, karaoke bars, colatecs, emotional pubs, hunting pochas, and direct sales promotion centers for the first week ▲ restrictions on gatherings at singing practice rooms, indoor group exercises (intense GX types), buffets, and distribution logistics centers.

Additionally, ▲ PC rooms, academies (including tutoring centers and reading rooms), religious facilities, indoor wedding halls, bathhouses, indoor sports facilities, funeral halls, etc., can operate while complying with quarantine rules such as wearing masks and maintaining visitor logs ▲ limited operation of indoor and outdoor national and public facilities, no-audience sports events, and recommendations for closure of social welfare facilities and daycare centers.

The county has been enforcing administrative orders to prohibit or restrict gatherings at high-risk facilities such as entertainment and karaoke pubs, direct sales promotion centers, and medium-risk facilities such as bathhouses and saunas, with dedicated officials continuously conducting inspections to ensure thorough compliance with quarantine rules at each establishment.

Governor Kim Junsung said, “As COVID-19 cases continue to occur in large numbers in the metropolitan area and nationwide, we ask all residents to refrain from visiting hometowns or other regions such as the metropolitan area during the major migration period of Chuseok, to avoid gatherings and events, and to participate in the strengthened social distancing measures during the special quarantine period for Chuseok.”
