[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo County is implementing the '2020 Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Plan' to ensure that both residents and returning visitors can have a safe and comfortable Chuseok holiday, the traditional Korean harvest festival.

According to Wando County on the 28th, a comprehensive situation room will be set up for five days from the 30th of this month to the 4th of next month during the Chuseok holiday period. Eleven teams, including the COVID-19 response and quarantine task force and the health and medical task force, will operate with 27 personnel per day, establishing customized plans by sector to maintain a rapid response system for a safe holiday free from COVID-19.

All Jindo County employees have been visiting 1,001 multi-use facilities within the county directly from the 23rd to the 29th for seven days to guide and inspect compliance with quarantine rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They are also expanding fever screening stations during the Chuseok holiday and promoting special quarantine through the Jindo County town and township living quarantine teams.

COVID-19 screening clinics will operate 24 hours a day during the holiday period at the public health center and Jindo Hanguk Hospital, and the public health center will provide medical services during the Chuseok holiday.

Jindo Hanguk Hospital’s emergency room will also operate 24 hours, and with the establishment of an emergency medical system including 55 medical institutions during the holiday period, they plan to minimize inconvenience to residents by preventing gaps in medical care.

The pharmacies operating during the Chuseok holiday are posted on the Jindo County Office website, and information can be obtained by contacting the Jindo County Office or the public health center.

Additionally, to maintain clean streets during the Chuseok holiday, a focused collection plan for household waste will be implemented. Jindo-eup and Uisin and Jodo townships will collect household waste on the 30th of this month and the 3rd of next month; Gogeun and Jisan townships on the 30th and the 4th; Gunnae township on the 30th and the 2nd; and Imhoe township on the 2nd and 4th of next month.

A Jindo County administrative official stated, “During the holiday period, it is necessary to refrain from traveling to and from hometowns, and to comply with COVID-19 prevention rules such as hand washing, wearing masks at all times, and social distancing.” He added, “Due to the introduction of the next-generation resident registration information system promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, all civil service issuance machines at the county office civil affairs office and all town and township offices will be suspended from 8 p.m. on the 29th to midnight on the 4th of next month, so it is necessary to issue any required civil documents before the holiday.”
