[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando Maritime Police Station (Chief Park Je-su) announced that on the 27th, they urgently transported Mr. A (male, 65 years old), a resident of Soando Island in Wando County, who showed symptoms of pneumonia.


According to Wando Maritime Police on the 28th, around 7:25 PM the previous day, Mr. A, residing on Soando Island, complained of high fever and difficulty breathing. Mr. B, Mr. A’s nephew, checked his condition and moved him to the health center before reporting to the Wando Maritime Police Situation Room.


In response, Wando Maritime Police immediately dispatched personnel and confirmed with the head of the Infectious Disease Management Team at Wando Health Medical Center whether Mr. A showed symptoms of COVID-19. Afterwards, Mr. A was transported using a negative pressure stretcher by a coastal rescue boat to Hwahaengpo Port, handed over to the 119 ambulance team, and urgently transferred to a hospital located in Haenam.


Meanwhile, Mr. A lives alone, had not recently left the island, and it was confirmed that aside from his nephew Mr. B, there were no other contacts. No COVID-19 symptoms were present, and he is currently receiving treatment at the hospital in Haenam.


The health authorities conducted a COVID-19 test for accurate confirmation, and the results are expected to be released today.
