The CJ Cup (total prize money $9.75 million) has emerged as a premier match on the PGA Tour. On the 28th (Korean time), CJ Group announced, "World No. 1 Dustin Johnson (USA), No. 2 Jon Rahm (Spain), No. 3 Justin Thomas (USA), No. 4 Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), and No. 5 Bryson DeChambeau (USA) will all participate." This tournament is the only PGA Tour event held in Korea. Established in 2017, it has been held at the Nine Bridges Golf Club in Seogwipo, Jeju Island for the past three years.
However, this year, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the event moved to Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. This venue became famous in November 2018 for the head-to-head event between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson (both USA). Thomas is the defending champion and has raised expectations by saying, "I will do my best to defend the title." Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson (all USA), and Justin Rose (England) will also join the competition.
