10th Yongsangu Cheongbaek Public Official Award Candidate Nominations Open... Grand Prize 2 Million Won

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjang Hyun) is accepting nominations for the 10th Cheongbaek Public Official Award until October 23.

This is to foster a trustworthy district administration and a sound public service culture among residents.

Nomination targets include ▲public officials who contributed to creating a healthy public service society ▲public officials who handled civil complaints fairly, transparently, and kindly, striving to protect citizens' rights ▲public officials proven to live frugally and diligently ▲public officials who have made significant contributions to improving the district's integrity and have not engaged in conduct inappropriate for public officials.

Public officials currently under disciplinary action or who have received disciplinary measures with records not expunged as of the nomination date are excluded.

Residents wishing to nominate candidates can fill out the nomination form and submit it via email, mail, or fax. The related form is posted in the ‘News’ section on the district website.

Thereafter, the district will proceed with document screening, public verification, fact-checking of achievements, and review by the screening committee. The screening committee will be composed and operated by up to 12 experts.

One grand prize and one main prize will be selected, with awardees receiving up to 2 million KRW in prize money, priority placement in desired departments, overseas training, and other benefits.

Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Integrity is the top priority for public officials,” and added, “We hope residents actively recommend candidates so that employees can work with pride.”

The district established the Cheongbaek Public Official Award in 2011, the first among Seoul’s autonomous districts, and has selected and awarded 17 exemplary public officials (8 grand prize winners, 9 main prize winners) over 9 rounds for their exemplary conduct in both public and private life.

Last year, Team Leaders Masung Rak (grand prize) and Kim Tae-ho (main prize) were honored with the awards.
