[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] Seven members of a family who gathered for a family meeting at a house in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, were sequentially infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The route of infection has not yet been identified, and it is presumed to be a 'blind infection.'

Gunpo City announced on the 27th through its homepage that after eight family members gathered at the home of Mr. A in Gungnae-dong (Gunpo case 164, over 100 years old) on the 13th, six people including cohabiting family members and contacts tested positive.

Mr. A, an elderly confirmed case over 100 years old, first showed symptoms such as general weakness on September 25 and visited the emergency room of Wonkwang University Sanbon Hospital, where he was confirmed positive the same day and transferred to Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Anseong Hospital the next day.

Subsequently, six contacts including three cohabiting family members living with him entered self-quarantine, but on the 26th, his child Mr. B (Gunpo case 165, in his 50s) tested positive, followed by his spouse Mr. C (Gunpo case 166, in his 80s) and another child Mr. D (Gunpo case 167, in his 50s) living in the same house on the 27th.

Additionally, on the 27th, his child Mr. E (Anyang case 194, in his 60s), Mr. E's child Mr. F (Anyang case 195, in his 20s), and contact Mr. G (Gunpo case 168, in his 60s), who frequently visited Mr. A's home, were confirmed positive, bringing the total number of confirmed cases from the Gunpo family gathering to seven over the past three days.

Although Mr. A was the first to be confirmed positive, symptoms such as fever, sore throat, and muscle pain were first observed in Mr. E (Anyang case 194, in his 60s) on September 14, the day after the family meeting.
