[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 28th that it will conduct a comprehensive search and crime prevention assessment targeting 12 redevelopment areas and approximately 6,000 public and abandoned houses in the region.
A total of 587 personnel, including officers from each police station and substation, crime prevention patrol teams, and volunteer crime prevention members, will divide the assigned areas and carry out the search.
In particular, detailed searches will be conducted in vulnerable locations such as water tanks, warehouses, and rooftops, and potential risks will be preemptively blocked through measures such as homeless shelters.
The overall crime prevention status of access facilities will also be assessed to prevent these areas from being misused as sites for juvenile delinquency and other crimes. Unauthorized entrances will be closed and warning signs will be posted.
Problems discovered after the comprehensive search will be addressed in consultation with the relevant local governments and redevelopment associations, with plans to reinforce facilities such as installing safety fences. Additionally, management cards for the areas will be created to enable regular inspections and continuous maintenance work.
An official from the Incheon Police Agency stated, "By inspecting the security conditions of public and abandoned houses, which citizens consider one of the factors causing insecurity, and proactively resolving issues, we aim to enhance the public’s sense of safety."
