[Asia Economy, Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Park Yongman, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), continues to promote the regulatory sandbox initiative in collaboration with the government.
According to the KCCI on September 27, Chairman Park uploaded the fifth video related to the regulatory sandbox on Facebook, titled "The Miracle Road That Charges While Running - Wireless Charging Bus."
Chairman Park personally provided the narration, introducing the technology that allows buses to be automatically charged while running or stopped. This technology, developed by Wipower1, a spin-off from KAIST, was recently selected as a regulatory sandbox project by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Chairman Park stated, "Our company has succeeded in developing the technology to charge buses while they are running," and added, "This is an incredible achievement that can address both energy and environmental issues by utilizing roads as charging stations, amid the global competition in the era of eco-friendly vehicles."
He continued, "The dream bus could not operate properly because the conditions for laying road cables and the frequency standards for wireless vehicle charging did not match," and added, "The KCCI and the Ministry of Science and ICT jointly achieved approval for a regulatory sandbox exemption."
