[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Eight janitors working for a cleaning service company at Sindorim Station in Seoul have been infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to Guro District on the 27th, one janitor working at Sindorim Station was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 25th, and as a result of testing 16 fellow janitors working together, seven additional cases were confirmed.
Among the eight confirmed cases, including the first patient, six are Seoul residents, and the remaining two are from other cities or provinces.
Initial epidemiological investigations revealed that the janitors wore masks while working. There was no contact with general passengers or station staff that could have led to virus transmission.
It is reported that while eating lunchboxes in a confined break room, fellow janitors also tested positive for COVID-19.
