Large Fire at Incheon Factory... Fully Extinguished After 4 Hours

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] A large fire broke out at an automobile parts manufacturing factory in Incheon but was completely extinguished after about four hours.

According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters on the 26th, a fire occurred around 9:15 a.m. at an automobile parts manufacturing factory in Gajwa-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon. The fire burned most of the second floor of the factory, a steel structure with a total floor area of 1,476㎡, and also spread to the first floor.

However, 14 workers, including 9 working on the first floor and 5 on the second floor, quickly evacuated, resulting in no casualties.

Upon receiving the report, the fire authorities issued a "Response Level 1," an alarm that mobilizes all personnel from the jurisdictional fire station, around 10:01 a.m. and began firefighting operations.

In addition to 80 firefighters and 36 vehicles including pump trucks, fire helicopters and unmanned water tower trucks were also deployed to the fire scene.

The fire authorities lifted the Response Level 1 alarm 1 hour and 17 minutes after the fire started, controlled the major flames around 10:53 a.m., and completely extinguished the fire by 1:06 p.m.

The fire authorities are investigating the exact scale of property damage and the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started during painting work inside the second floor.
