Seoul National University Hospital Nurse Tests Positive for COVID-19... Partial Ward Control (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] A nurse affiliated with Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

According to Seoul National University Hospital on the 25th, the confirmed case is a nurse assigned to a ward who underwent a COVID-19 test at the screening clinic that morning and received a 'positive' result in the afternoon.

Seoul National University Hospital has restricted entry to Ward 85, where the confirmed nurse worked, and is conducting tests on contacts. The confirmed nurse finished a night shift the previous night and experienced some symptoms, leading to a visit to the screening clinic at 8 a.m. that day. The so-called 'night shift' for nurses typically runs from 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the following day.

A representative from Seoul National University Hospital stated, "So far, about 22 close contacts have been identified, but the number may change as the investigation is ongoing," adding, "We are conducting tests and quarantine measures for the close contacts."

Seoul National University Hospital previously had one staff member test positive for COVID-19 on the 25th of last month.
