[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hoseok, Director of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, visited Nambu Market, a traditional market located in Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
According to the Honam Regional Statistics Office on the 25th, Director Lee's visit to the traditional market was carried out to understand recent price trends of agricultural and livestock products such as rice, fruits, fish, and vegetables, which are in high demand during Chuseok.
Additionally, he purchased fresh foods and grains, which are seasonal holiday items from the survey targets, to express gratitude to respondents who actively cooperated with the Statistics Korea consumer price survey despite the subdued consumer sentiment due to the COVID-19 situation.
Lee Hoseok, Director of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, stated, “Due to the difficulties faced by traditional markets this year because of COVID-19, our institution will have all employees frequently visit these markets to revitalize them.”
The purchased items were delivered to Samsung Humanville, a local child welfare facility.
