Simultaneous Disinfection at Stations, Terminals, Traditional Markets, and Tourist Sites Ahead of Chuseok Holiday

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do conducted a large-scale Chuseok holiday Gyeongbuk 'Clean & Safe Quarantine' campaign on the 25th throughout the province in cooperation with 23 cities and counties and social organizations.
On this day, about 15,000 people participated, including 541 social organizations in the province such as Saemaul Association, Barugesalgi Council, Federation of Village Chiefs, and Nature Conservation Council, as well as the Gyeongbuk Clean Safe Quarantine Team. Intensive disinfection and environmental cleanup activities were carried out at 2,114 locations including stations, terminals, traditional markets, and tourist sites where large-scale movement and gathering of returning visitors and tourists were expected.
Ha Dae-sung, Deputy Governor for Economy, along with Choi Ki-moon, Mayor of Yeongcheon, Lee Man-hee, National Assembly member, Yoo Seok-kwon, President of Yeongcheon Saemaul Association, and about 30 social organization leaders, Saemaul Association members, merchant association members, and Yeongcheon Clean Safe Quarantine Team members conducted disinfection activities at Yeongcheon Bus Terminal and taxi stands, Yeongcheon Station, and Yeongcheon Public Market.
Afterwards, at Yeongcheon Public Market, a shopping event was held while maintaining social distancing with about 50 provincial government employees from the Provincial Autonomous Administration Bureau and Job Economy Office, along with a campaign activity titled "Let's Revive Gyeongbuk's Traditional Markets that Have Become Clean and Safe."
There were also meaningful quarantine campaigns by city and county. In Cheongdo County, on the 25th, about 70 employees voluntarily provided medical support activities during hospital lunch hours at 26 hospitals and pharmacies.
In Gumi City, about 1,400 members from 80 institutions and social organizations carried out large-scale disinfection and environmental maintenance activities at 817 multi-use facilities in the city. Members of local Saemaul Quarantine Teams, Federation of Village Chiefs, and Nature Conservation Council patrolled various areas including 412 senior centers and 170 parks and sports facilities in towns, townships, and neighborhoods, focusing on disinfecting infection-vulnerable facilities.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo urged, "Just as the ancestral rites were suspended during the Joseon Dynasty due to infectious diseases, I ask all expatriates and residents to refrain from visiting their hometowns, traveling, and gathering in groups this Chuseok holiday and to rest at home."
