Yuhan-Kimberly "Planting Trees Together with Newlyweds"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Yuhan-Kimberly announced on the 25th that it is recruiting participants for the 'Untact Newlywed Tree Planting' event until October 14. The newlywed tree planting, a flagship program of the 'Our Mountains and Rivers Green Campaign,' is celebrating its 36th year this year and will be conducted in a non-face-to-face (untact) manner to practice social distancing.

This tree planting event, recruiting a total of 8,000 couples, is open to newlyweds married within three years or couples planning to marry within one year. Among the applicants, 300 couples will receive a 'Upupu Forest Kit' containing a photo shoot topper and companion plants such as Ficus elastica, Yucca, and Hong Kong palm through an event.

This year, 8,000 trees will be planted in the name of the participating couples in a national forest located in Yongin City. In place of the newlywed couples, officials from the Korea Forest Service, Life Forest, and Yuhan-Kimberly will plant the trees in October while adhering to the government's COVID-19 quarantine guidelines. The planting site is a forest donated to the nation by Mr. Son Chang-geun on Arbor Day in 2012, covering an area about twice the size of Namsan and featuring diverse vegetation and pristine scenery.

A Yuhan-Kimberly official explained, "Forests reduce fine dust and heat, prevent landslides, and above all, serve as healthy resting places. It is known that about 947 trees are needed to offset the carbon dioxide emitted by one person over a lifetime. Supporting and participating in tree planting is a gift of a healthy future to our children."
