[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] The Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT) announced on the 25th that it conducted various social contribution activities to share warmth with local residents struggling due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to revitalize traditional markets in celebration of Chuseok.

To revitalize local traditional markets depressed by COVID-19, KODIT participated in the ‘Chuseok Onnuri Gift Certificate Sales Promotion Event’ hosted by Daegu City on the 24th of this month, committing to purchase 500 million KRW worth of Onnuri gift certificates. Additionally, it separately purchased 3 million KRW worth of Onnuri gift certificates to donate to socially marginalized groups in the community.

On the 22nd, KODIT prepared 120 ‘KODIT Love Sharing Kits’ including grocery kits for elderly living alone in the region, quarantine kits for vulnerable children, and play kits, and personally delivered them to neighbors in need near the KODIT headquarters.

Furthermore, to support small business owners struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, eight regional business headquarters nationwide formed sisterhood ties with representative local markets, conducting activities such as purchasing traditional market gift certificates and shopping events. Since the 7th, KODIT has also been holding the ‘Chuseok Social Economy Enterprise Online Special Sale’ to support the sales of social economy enterprise products, practicing coexistence activities with the local community.

A KODIT official stated, “We conducted various social contribution activities to provide even small help to neighbors facing difficulties due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19,” and added, “KODIT will continue to fulfill its social responsibilities as a public institution and seek ways to coexist and cooperate with local residents.”
