"Ministry of Land Dismissal Proposal Violates Public Audit Act... Trespassing During Investigation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] A motion to dismiss Koo Bon-hwan, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, has been passed. Facing the risk of a dishonorable resignation, President Koo has announced legal action, stating that there are considerable legal issues with the dismissal motion.
According to the government on the 25th, the Public Institution Management Committee under the Ministry of Strategy and Finance held a meeting yesterday afternoon to review and approve the dismissal motion for President Koo, requested by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Following the committee's resolution, the Ministry of Land is expected to recommend President Koo's dismissal to President Moon Jae-in. If President Moon approves, President Koo will be officially dismissed.
The apparent reasons for the Ministry of Land's push for President Koo's dismissal are twofold: ▲ inadequate response to the typhoon crisis and false reporting of actions ▲ damage to fairness in personnel management within the institution. President Koo has opposed these claims, stating that "there is no justifiable reason to pursue dismissal."
President Koo is considering legal action, citing significant legal issues with the committee's decision. In a phone interview with this publication on the same day, he said, "The Ministry of Land's recommendation for dismissal violates the Public Institution Audit Act, and there was also an infringement of privacy during the house search process. Reporting illegal matters to the President is inappropriate. I will consider legal measures."
Meanwhile, President Koo is scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon to express his position.
