[Asia Economy, reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT will launch the Chatting Plus "Confession" Challenge starting September 28, in celebration of the Chuseok holiday. The campaign encourages users to send heartfelt messages to family, friends, and acquaintances-feelings they may not have been able to express before.
According to KT on September 25, Chatting Plus is a next-generation mobile communication service that offers features such as text messaging, group chats with up to 100 participants, large file transfers, and the ability to send gifts or money. Since the three major telecom companies launched the integrated Chatting Plus service in August 2019, around 25 million people have used the service.
KT designed the "Confession" Challenge to help customers cope with the disappointment of not being able to meet family, friends, and acquaintances during the Chuseok holiday due to social distancing. Running for about three weeks from September 28 to October 16, the "Confession" Challenge is an event where users can deliver messages like "I love you," "Thank you," and "I'm sorry"-words they may have kept in their hearts but found difficult to say-through Chatting Plus.
To participate, users simply need to send the three types of messages via individual or group chats on their mobile messaging app and submit a screenshot of the chat that includes a touching or entertaining response. To enter, upload the screenshot to your personal Instagram account with the hashtags #ILoveYou, #ThankYou, and #ImSorry. The event is open to Chatting Plus subscribers, and 120 winners will be selected by lottery to receive prizes.
Lee Sunghwan, Executive Vice President of KT's 5G/GiGA Business Division, stated, "We planned the 'Confession' Challenge via Chatting Plus for customers who are unable to meet family, friends, and acquaintances during the Chuseok holiday due to social distancing. We hope that by using Chatting Plus to check in with loved ones and to express feelings that are difficult to say in person, customers will be able to overcome the emotional challenges of COVID-19."
