[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Amazon has launched its own cloud gaming platform, 'Luna.' It is expected to engage in fierce competition with game streaming services such as Microsoft's (MS) 'xCloud' and Google's 'Stadia.'

According to TechCrunch and other foreign media on the 25th, Luna users can stream games wirelessly without downloading them and enjoy games on PC, Mac, and iOS. U.S. users can request early access starting today.

Amazon is offering Luna at a price of $5.99 per month. Amazon announced that it plans to release more than 50 games on the 'Luna+' application.

Although partnered with Ubisoft, users will likely need to subscribe separately to access those games. The entire Luna service is powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon explained that users will be able to play games at up to 4K 60fps performance.

Like Google Stadia, Amazon also plans to sell a customized controller that connects directly to the service to reduce latency. The Luna controller will be sold for $49.99 during the initial access period.

One of Luna's biggest selling points is its integration with the streaming platform 'Twitch,' which allows gamers to watch their favorite streamers play. Google also created something similar with Stadia and YouTube Gaming, but it has not yet been fully realized.
