Imsil-gun Confirms Recipients of the 39th Imsil-gun Citizens' Awards


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] The Imshil County Residents' Award Selection Committee (Chairman Shim Min, Imshil County Governor) announced that from the 16th of last month to September 22, through written reviews and gathering opinions from each committee member, five individuals who have worked for the development of Imshil from various sectors were finally selected as the '39th Imshil County Residents' Award Winners.'


The Imshil County Residents' Award is an honorable award given to recommend and honor those with outstanding achievements among residents or natives of Imshil County.


For the Cultural and Sports category, Choi Seongmi (Sinpyeong-myeon, 73), the head of the Imshil Cultural Center who has been leading efforts to promote and nurture local culture in the Imshil area, was selected.


For the Public Interest Saemaeul Award, Lee Jonggwan (Gwancheon-myeon, 67), the secretary-general of the Barugesalgi Movement Imshil County Council and chairman of the Gwancheon-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee, who has been leading community and volunteer activities, and Lee Jinsu (Sindeok-myeon, 64), who has continuously donated and volunteered through local social organizations for over 15 years to support marginalized groups in the community, were selected as joint recipients.


For the Filial Piety Award, Yoon Youngja (Imshil-eup, 55), who has devotedly cared for her father and mother, was selected, and for the Patriotism Award, Jeong Cheolyoung (originally from Gangjin-myeon, 65), a founding member and current president of the Re-Busan Imshil County Alumni Association who has consistently practiced hometown love, was selected.


Governor Shim Min stated, "The Imshil County Residents' Award is the highest honor awarded in the name of the residents of Imshil County. I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of all residents to everyone selected for the award for their silent dedication to the development of Imshil and filial piety in their respective positions."


Meanwhile, although the award ceremony has traditionally been held during the annual Imshil County Residents' Day celebration, this year the 58th Residents' Day was canceled to prevent the local spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of residents. Therefore, a separate schedule will be arranged for the award ceremony.
