[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 24th that it conducted a campaign to refrain from visiting hometowns and relatives during the Chuseok holiday period to prevent the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to achieve an early end to the pandemic.

The campaign period is from the 14th to October 4th, during which COVID-19 prevention promotional activities are carried out through local newspaper publications, electronic billboard advertisements, website promotions, and street campaigns.

Detailed activities include street campaigns at ▲Chogye Market (20th) ▲Samga Market (22nd) ▲Hapcheon Wanghu Market (23rd) ▲Gaya Market (25th), posting banners on designated bulletin boards in Daeya, Hapcheon, Hwanggang newspapers, and all towns and townships, as well as village broadcasts. Promotion to refrain from visiting hometowns during the holiday period is also conducted through village chief meetings and various social organizations.

The county is making every effort to prevent infections within the region by encouraging enjoying cultural activities at home during the holiday, using grass-cutting proxy services, and promoting online ancestral rites.

County Governor Moon Jun-hee said, “Let us all work together to refrain from visiting hometowns during this Chuseok holiday to achieve an early end to COVID-19,” and added, “We appeal to refrain from hometown visits and ask everyone to strictly follow personal quarantine rules such as wearing masks, practicing hand washing, and maintaining social distancing.”
