Dongmyeong University Achieves Dual Benefits Through Industry-Academic Cooperation in Advanced Agriculture On September 23, Dongmyeong Amigo Cooperative and KCTS Co., Ltd. donated 100 million won in scholarships to Dongmyung University in Busan.

After creating a new concept urban agriculture business model, a bonus scholarship donation followed, making the university feel like it is celebrating a festival.


Dongmyung University, which created a 'smart farm' through an industry-academia cooperation project and gave birth to 'AI mushrooms,' has enjoyed a pleasant surprise by securing a scholarship fund of 100 million KRW from its cooperation partners.


Recently, Dongmyung University (President Jeong Hong-seop), which succeeded in cultivating and marketing smart farm AI mushrooms on campus, received a scholarship donation of 100 million KRW from its cooperation partners Dongmyung Amigo Cooperative and KCTS Co., Ltd. With this donation, full scholarships can be provided to two students each semester for five years.


The Dongmyung University Social Customized Industry-Academia Cooperation Leading University (LINC+) Development Project Group (Director Shin Dong-seok) held a related donation ceremony on the 23rd at the International Industry-Academia Cooperation Hall.


The smart farm is receiving great attention as the fruit of 'AI convergence innovation' achieved by the meeting of 'agriculture' and 'AI.' The 'smart farm comrades' who participated in the operation of Dongmyung University AI Convergence Smart Farm Technology Research Institute gathered at the ceremony, including Dongmyung University LINC+ Project Director Shin Dong-seok, Dongmyung Amigo Cooperative Chairman Ryu Hyun-je, and KCTS CEO Cha Ji-wook.


With this pleasant fund, the project group plans to select the '1st Proud Dongmyung Person Award' for students who have enhanced the university's prestige through academics, volunteering, and entrepreneurship, and to provide full scholarships to two students finally selected in February next year.


Opened on August 14, the Dongmyung University AI Convergence Smart Farm Technology Research Institute plans to additionally establish research and development offices and an education experience center on the upper floor of the cultivation building by the end of this year.


This business model is expected to play a significant role in building a social economy business model, fostering the 6th industry related to agriculture, economic independence of cooperatives through high value-added product production, and creating jobs for local youth and middle-aged people.


The smart farm remotely controls the growth environment such as temperature and humidity, light intensity, carbon dioxide emission and fresh air inflow, humidification and dehumidification via smartphones and other devices.


Within about a month after the research institute opened, it achieved a performance of harvesting and selling about 800 sets of 1kg capacity Dongmyung Amigo finished products.
