[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Korea Yakult signed a business agreement with Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on the 23rd to establish a ‘local safety network’ and began supporting patrol activities within the jurisdiction of Yongsan Police Station through ‘Fresh Managers.’
The activity involves 52 ‘Fresh Managers’ working in Yongsan-gu. They provide information gathered while roaming various parts of the area to Yongsan Police Station. The main information includes areas of concern for crime occurrence within Yongsan-gu and residents’ safety concerns. The collected information is shared with Yongsan Police Station to be used for strengthening local patrols and improving the environment.
Kim Eok-tae, Head of the Community Safety Division at Seoul Yongsan Police Station, said, “With the 52 ‘Fresh Managers’ who usually have healthy affinity and the police working together, we will activate community policing with great interest in crime prevention in the local community. Despite the prolonged COVID-19 situation, we will do our best to identify and improve security vulnerabilities in advance so that residents can live with peace of mind.”
Flexible patrols for crime prevention will also be conducted. If a ‘Fresh Manager’ discovers safety vulnerabilities during their activities, they patrol and inspect the area together with police officers. Additionally, crime prevention promotional activities are carried out, such as advising against sharing passwords for shared entrance doors in residential areas, which can occur in daily life.
Hong Jong-hyeok, Head of Korea Yakult’s Gangbuk Branch, said, “We are pleased that the small attention of the ‘Fresh Managers’ roaming the alleys helps stabilize local security,” and added, “Korea Yakult will continue to expand activities that contribute to residents’ safety through close cooperation with local police stations.”
Meanwhile, Korea Yakult is conducting various activities for community safety. Recently, it partnered with Iksan Police Station in Jeonbuk to attach ‘Child Abuse Prevention Promotional Stickers’ to its delivery bags. Since September, it has been promoting ‘Special Crackdown Prevention on Street Violence’ by attaching flags to electric carts in cooperation with Seongseo Police Station in Daegu City, targeting citizens.
