[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT is entering the Thai market through a strategic collaboration with Thai internet data center (IDC) company JTS.
According to KT on the 24th, under this agreement, both companies will ▲ share knowledge and experience on internet data center projects for new business development in Thailand ▲ develop financing strategies and business models for mutual cooperation ▲ propose internet data center solutions to global cloud service providers ▲ collaborate on internet data center-related technologies and solutions.
Through this, they plan to enter the Thai IDC market by the second half of 2021 and provide high-quality internet data center services to global cloud companies.
In March, KT signed an IPTV service supply contract with ‘3BB TV,’ the IPTV service operator of Jasmine Group. Since then, KT and Jasmine Group have focused on the growth potential of the Thai IDC market and were able to establish a strategic partnership in the IDC business, a common interest to enhance network value.
Kim Young-woo, Head of KT Global Business Division, said, “Entering the Thai IDC business with JTS is a great opportunity for KT to showcase the internet data center business capabilities it has built so far in the global market,” adding, “We will focus on Southeast Asia, the most rapidly emerging IDC market recently, and expand our global presence.” Somboon Patcharasophak, President of JTS, said, “The internet data center business is a foundational business that enhances the network value of Jasmine Group,” and “We look forward to continuous cooperation through joint development of the data center business with KT.”
