Sejong Temporarily Suspends Parking Enforcement Near Traditional Markets

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will temporarily suspend parking enforcement near traditional markets ahead of Chuseok.

The city announced on the 24th that parking enforcement around traditional markets will be suspended from the 25th of this month to the 4th of next month. The enforcement suspension area is around Sejong Traditional Market in Jochiwon-eup, where the allowable parking time for market users will be extended from 20 minutes to within 2 hours.

However, parking violations in five prohibited areas?around fire-fighting facilities, at intersection corners, bus stops, crosswalks, children protection zones, and parking on sidewalks?as well as double parking will still be subject to enforcement.

The suspension of parking enforcement aims to improve accessibility to traditional markets with limited parking spaces and to revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

A city official stated, “Enforcement will continue as usual in areas other than Sejong Traditional Market where the suspension is applied,” and urged citizens to actively participate in establishing parking order in the region ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
