[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is implementing the ‘2020 Chuseok Comprehensive Measures’ to ensure that residents can have a comfortable and safe Chuseok, the traditional Korean holiday.
The district has designated the period from September 25 to October 5, a total of 11 days, as the Chuseok comprehensive measures implementation period, focusing on eight key areas: ▲Warm Chuseok celebrations ▲Price stabilization ▲Traffic ▲Wind and flood damage ▲Safety and fire prevention ▲Medical and health care ▲Resolution of daily inconveniences ▲Establishment of public service discipline.
First, during the Chuseok holiday period, the district will operate a comprehensive situation room composed of five task forces?▲Traffic Task Force ▲Wind and Flood Damage Task Force ▲Park Task Force ▲Living Task Force ▲Medical Task Force?with a total of 710 personnel to prepare for emergencies and resolve residents’ inconveniences.
Especially this year, as it is the first holiday during the COVID-19 situation, an emergency response system will be established to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the holiday period.
Accordingly, the district will continuously operate the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and screening clinics, conduct monitoring of self-quarantined individuals at least twice a day, and maintain a meticulous quarantine system.
Additionally, at Dong Seoul Bus Terminal, which has a high volume of foot traffic, fever checks for disembarking passengers and disinfection three times a day will be conducted.
Furthermore, pre-inspections will be carried out on multi-use facilities to ensure compliance with core quarantine rules, and joint public-private disinfection will be conducted in Kondaeg Yangkkochi Street, an area densely populated by foreigners.
Alongside COVID-19 response, the district will focus on safety measures by operating the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters situation room to establish a disaster response system and maintain a 24-hour emergency contact system. A field mobile team will be organized to patrol major arterial roads and intensively manage sewage facilities, and a 24-hour shift will be assigned at the rainwater pumping station to be ready for typhoons and heavy rain.
Moreover, to prevent safety and fire accidents, a situation duty system will be maintained, and the emergency contact network will be activated immediately upon occurrence of emergencies to establish a response system with related organizations.
Inspections will be conducted in advance on major construction sites, multi-use facilities, welfare facilities, performance venues, and movie theaters to prevent safety accidents.
The district will operate an emergency medical countermeasure situation room to maintain an emergency medical system that allows emergency treatment at local emergency medical institutions such as Konkuk University Hospital and Hyemin Hospital. Medical institutions available during the holiday and pharmacies on duty will be designated, posted on the district website, and announced.
Although movement is discouraged during the Chuseok holiday due to COVID-19, to guarantee minimal mobility rights, public transportation last train times will be extended until 2 a.m. on October 1 and 2.
In addition, to resolve residents’ daily inconveniences, a cleaning situation team will be operated to promptly respond to cleaning complaints, and a pre-holiday intensive garbage collection period will be conducted until the 29th.
