[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The 'Bucheon World B-Boy Championship (BBIC)', the only B-Boy world competition in Korea, will be held online from the 26th to the 27th.
Now in its 5th year, the competition is organized by the B-Boy team 'Jinjo Crew' and hosted by Bucheon City. While it has been held offline every year, this year it will be conducted entirely online due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Last month, the preliminary round was held online with about 1,000 participants from 64 countries. These participants recorded their dance moves and submitted the videos online for judging.
The main event will proceed by receiving participants' dance videos in advance, screening them on the day of the competition, and live streaming the judges' evaluation in real time.
On the first day, the 26th, the '1-on-1 Breaking' competition with 10 participants and the 'All Genre Performance', where 10 teams compete in all dance genres including B-Boying, Popping, Locking, and Hip-Hop, will take place.
On the 27th, the highlight of the competition, the 'BBIC World Final', will be held as a 4-on-4 team battle. A total of 8 teams, including the world's strongest B-Boy All-Star team 'Red Bull BC One AllStar', will compete for the championship.
The competition can be viewed over two days from 5 PM via Bucheon City's official website, Facebook, YouTube, and other social networking services (SNS).
A Bucheon City official said, "We hope that citizens, psychologically constrained by the prolonged COVID-19 situation, can momentarily escape spatial limitations and enjoy themselves," adding, "As this is the first time the competition is held online, we ask for the interest of many citizens."
