[Golf Topic] "1.2m 6-putts" Danny Lee "Apologizes for Wrong Behavior"

[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] ○..."I disappointed fans and sponsors."

Danny Lee (New Zealand, photo) finally issued an apology through social media on the 23rd (Korean time). This was due to his careless putting on the 18th hole (par 4) during the 3rd round of the 120th US Open (total prize money $12.5 million), a PGA Tour major held on the 21st at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York, USA (par 70). He made six putts from just 1.2 meters, and after the bogey putt, he especially undermined himself by tapping the ball repeatedly.

After holing out, Danny Lee angrily slammed his golf bag with his putter and withdrew, citing a "wrist injury." Having recorded a total of 3 over par through the 17th hole, he was in a position to contend near the top on the final day, making the situation more disappointing. He reflected, saying, "I acted like a foolish person unworthy of a professional," and "I shouldn't have left the course like that." He added, "After taking a short break, I will return with better sportsmanship."
