[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hankook Tire & Technology (hereinafter Hankook Tire) announced on the 23rd that its winter tire product line "Winter i*cept Premium," specifically the "Winter i*cept evo3," received the 'Best' rating, awarded only to the top 6 products, in the 2020 winter tire test conducted by the European automotive magazine "Auto Bild," which evaluated 51 tire brands.
Additionally, in a test conducted by "Auto Bild Sportscar," a sister publication of "Auto Bild," the tire ranked 2nd among 12 tire brands.
The "Winter i*cept evo3," launched this year in the European market as the successor to the proven "Winter i*cept evo2," which is already supplied as original equipment tires to leading global automakers, is scheduled to be released domestically in early October to coincide with the upcoming winter season.
It features the application of the "Aqua Pine Compound," which includes natural ingredients to prevent hardening at low temperatures, thereby enhancing grip on winter roads such as snowy and wet surfaces. Furthermore, the tread pattern optimized for snowy roads and the cuff design that improves drainage performance reduce hydroplaning, delivering optimal grip and braking performance on various winter road conditions.
Meanwhile, Hankook Tire operates a winter tire-exclusive performance testing facility, "Technotrack," in Ivalo, a city in northern Finland, actively engaging in winter tire research and development. Through various tests on four tracks, including flat and handling tracks, the company is striving to secure core technologies for developing tires that deliver optimal performance under winter weather and road conditions.
