[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seocho District Council (Chairperson Kim Ansook) conducted volunteer work on the 22nd to prepare gift boxes for vulnerable groups in celebration of Chuseok, the largest traditional Korean holiday.
The 8th Seocho District Council operates ‘Seocho District Council Go (go·鼓)’ to lower barriers and get closer to the residents. This volunteer activity was planned to comfort the hearts of marginalized groups who are experiencing unprecedented difficulties due to COVID-19 and to share the warmth of family affection.
The council members who participated in the gift box making volunteer work gathered in front of the main assembly hall, wore masks, and carefully packed the gift boxes with the intention of giving them to their loved ones.
A total of 200 gift box sets consisting of daily necessities will be packed and delivered to four locations: Banpo, Bangbae, Yangjae, and Umyeon Senior Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers.
Chairperson Kim Ansook stated, “Although it is a small gift, it was prepared to share warm hearts with our marginalized neighbors. The Seocho District Council will be a strong support so that the vulnerable groups, who may be even more exhausted due to COVID-19, can have courage and hope. We wish all residents a healthy and happy holiday season this Chuseok.”
