[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Park Geum-rae, a Jeonnam Provincial Councilor (Goheung 2), passed away on the 22nd at the age of 72 due to worsening illness while undergoing hospitalization treatment.
The late Councilor Park Geum-rae made significant contributions to the development of Goheung County and the Goheung County Council by serving in key positions such as County Council Chairman during his three terms as a Goheung County councilor, and was praised for his legislative activities in close harmony with the residents.
After entering the Provincial Council, Councilor Park served as a re-elected Jeonnam Provincial Councilor in the 10th and 11th terms, leading the discovery of various support policies and proposing alternatives with deep interest and extensive knowledge in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and maritime port sectors.
Councilor Park was remembered as a humane politician who practiced a unique "fatherly leadership," showing kindness to the executive branch while engaging in straightforward politics, and never hesitated to warmly encourage staff members.
Despite mobility difficulties and poor prognosis due to long-term treatment, he was known to have a strong will to recover, consistently performing rehabilitation exercises.
Even during his illness, Councilor Park devoted himself to legislative activities, managing necessary budgets and projects for regional development. It is reported that despite his worsening condition recently, he made efforts until the very end to resolve local issues for the development of his hometown, Goheung County, before Chuseok, which saddened those around him.
The funeral hall is located at Jeonnam Goheung Nokdong Nonghyup Funeral Hall, 1st floor, Room 1, and the funeral procession is scheduled for 6:30 AM on the 24th.
