Yangsan Busan National University Hospital Nurse Gu Young-jin Awarded for Patient Safety Merit

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] On the 22nd, Yangsan Busan National University Hospital in Gyeongnam announced that nurse Gu Young-jin from the Appropriate Management Team received a commendation for contributions to patient safety at the '2020 Patient Safety Day Commemoration Event' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Healthcare Institution Evaluation and Accreditation Institute.

The commendation for contributions to patient safety is awarded by the Minister of Health and Welfare to a total of 10 recipients. They were selected for their outstanding efforts in establishing patient safety infrastructure, fostering and activating a culture of patient safety within medical institutions, in accordance with the Patient Safety Act and the implementation of the Comprehensive Patient Safety Plan.

Nurse Gu Young-jin, as a dedicated patient safety personnel, was honored with the commendation in recognition of her contributions to activating patient safety activities not only at her affiliated hospital but also at small and medium-sized hospitals in the local community by participating in preliminary projects of the Regional Patient Safety Center.

The Patient Safety Day Commemoration Event is held annually on May 29, designated as National Patient Safety Day to commemorate the death of the late Jeong Jong-hyun, which was the impetus for the enactment of the Patient Safety Act.

However, this year, due to COVID-19, the event was postponed to September 17, the 'World Patient Safety Day' designated by WHO, and was broadcast through the online Patient Safety Reporting and Learning System YouTube channel.
