[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Korean Air is resuming flights on the Incheon-Osaka route in Japan, which had been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the aviation industry on the 22nd, Korean Air will resume flights on the Incheon-Osaka route once a week (Wednesdays) from the 30th of this month until the end of next month. This marks about six months since Korean Air suspended operations on this route.

Previously, as COVID-19 spread mainly in Northeast Asian countries, the Japanese government limited the entry airports for Koreans to two locations: Tokyo (Narita) and Osaka (Kansai). At that time, Korean Air suspended other Japan routes except for the Narita Airport route.

However, this resumption of flights differs from the full resumption of all Japan routes. Kansai Airport is one of the two major airports where the Japanese government has allowed Korean entry. A Korean Air official explained, "This decision considered cargo demand and transfer demand," adding, "Although there may be variables, we plan to continue operations in November if possible."
