The Only Local Specialty Character to Advance to the Finals

‘Good Character’ Born as a Win-Win Solution for Local Farms Amid COVID-19

[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The BS Three Musketeers, born from the efforts of the 7th local government of Boseong County to revive local farms, are performing well as they advance to the finals of the ‘Our Neighborhood Carlympic.’

The Boseong County character, ‘BS Samchongsa,’ has advanced to the finals of ‘Our Neighborhood Carlympic,’ a contest to select the best character in South Korea, expressing a bold ambition to win the grand prize.

According to Boseong County on the 22nd, ‘BS Samchongsa’ is a character representing the county’s specialty products, created as a ‘good character’ to support local farms amid the COVID-19 situation, and is actively engaging on Boseong County’s YouTube and other social media platforms.

Among the 63 regional characters participating in this Carlympic, ‘BS Samchongsa’ stood out as the only county-level character to advance to the finals, emerging as a super rookie.

Although the 16 local governments that advanced to the finals are mainly concentrated in the metropolitan area and include metropolitan cities and city-level governments, Boseong County’s BS Samchongsa succeeded in advancing to the finals with its unique cuteness and charm as a ‘good character’ born to coexist with local residents, demonstrating its potential.

The finals of Our Neighborhood Character are conducted through 100% online voting, and from September 21 to October 5, voters can participate by verifying their identity on the Our Neighborhood Character website.

A county official said, “We ask for everyone’s interest and support so that BS Samchongsa can achieve good results in the finals, and we will continue various challenges to coexist with local residents together with BS Samchongsa.”

Meanwhile, BS Samchongsa consists of Nokchamon, Komakmon, and Kiwimon, centered on green tea representing Boseong, the green tea capital, Beolgyo cockle, the first geographically indicated seafood product, and Boseong kiwi, the largest producer nationwide. With the concept of specialty products coming to life and a cute twist on the term ‘monster,’ often used in games, each character was given these names.
