According to Woori Financial Group on the 20th, Chairman Son announced at the group management council held via video conference on the 18th that he will directly oversee the group's digital innovation going forward.
At the management council held that day, Chairman Son told subsidiary CEOs, "Digital innovation is a matter of survival for the group," emphasizing, "As the chairman of the financial group and the CEO of Woori Financial's digital brand WON Bank, I will personally stand at the forefront of digital innovation and transform us into the number one digital financial group."
Chairman Son emphasized the group's digital innovation slogan, 'Digital First, Change Everything,' and plans to transform the digital division into an organization with autonomy exceeding that of big tech companies in all aspects of organizational operation such as personnel, budget, and evaluation, to secure innovation and competitiveness.
In particular, Chairman Son revealed that about 250 digital development personnel from Woori FIS, an IT subsidiary, will soon work together at Woori Financial Namsan Tower, where the bank's digital staff are currently stationed. He also requested that the holding company's digital organization be relocated to lead the group's digital innovation.
Additionally, Chairman Son announced plans to establish a second office in the same building to personally oversee digital innovation projects, working there every afternoon. He launched the Group Digital Innovation Committee in May and serves as its chairman.
Chairman Son said, "Although we have held monthly meetings and received reports as needed, the speed of change in the digital environment is so rapid that even daily checks are insufficient," urging, "The entire group must collaborate as one body to swiftly advance digital innovation tasks and achieve groundbreaking results."
