[Breaking News] Suspected Reinfection Case Occurs... Woman Confirmed Positive in March Tests Positive Again in Early April

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] A suspected case of COVID-19 reinfection has been confirmed domestically, and an investigation into the reinfection route is currently underway.

On the 19th, Kwon Junwook, Deputy Director of the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH), said at a regular briefing held at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency in Osong, Chungbuk, regarding the suspected reinfection case, "Research and investigation on suspected reinfection cases are underway domestically," adding, "The case involves a woman in her 20s who was initially confirmed positive in March and was confirmed positive again in early April."

The infection route of this confirmed patient’s first infection and the circumstances leading to the second positive diagnosis have not yet been disclosed. The researcher investigating this confirmed patient plans to publish the research results in an international journal.

However, the CDCH estimated that the groups in which the infection occurred during the first and second positive diagnoses were different.
