[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Singer IU donated 100 million won to celebrate her 12th debut anniversary.
On the 18th, IU's agency Edam Entertainment announced through their official SNS that IU donated 50 million won each to the Love Snail and the Korea Single Mothers Families Association, totaling 100 million won.
Notably, the donation was made under the name "IUaena," a combination of IU and her fan club name, Uaena, drawing attention.
IU, who debuted on September 18, 2008, has continued acts of kindness with her fans every debut anniversary. They have consistently donated to places in need of help, such as wildfire recovery, COVID-19 prevention, and heavy rain disaster relief.
Through her agency, IU said, "Like a group of violets that bloom more beautifully together than alone, like fireflies that shine brighter when lighting up together rather than alone, IU and Uaena shine the most when together. We gathered our fragile but quietly sparkling hearts to send a small warmth in our name to places in need of warmth. Thank you and I love you, Uaena."
IU will also perform "IU, Good Day" on the special broadcast of KBS2's 'You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook' on the same day. This special will be aired at 11:20 PM that night and is specially scheduled for 100 minutes.
Although the recording was conducted without an audience due to COVID-19, it was carried out on a scale comparable to a concert lasting 14 hours.
IU reportedly decided to appear on 'You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook' to offer comfort and healing through her songs.
Also, regarding hosting the special "IU, Good Day" on the exact day of her 12th debut anniversary, IU expressed, "It feels like having a public birthday party. It feels like I am receiving a gift."
