A woman in her 40s who was self-quarantining in Jeonju visited her sister's house in Seoul... "I had a fight with my boyfriend," she stated

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A woman in her 40s who left her self-quarantine location in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, and visited her sister's house in Seoul was caught by health authorities.

On the 18th, the Jeonju City Health Center announced that it reported A (46) to the police on charges of unauthorized departure from the self-quarantine location (violation of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act).

According to the Jeonju City Health Center, A, who entered the country from the United States with her son and was ordered to self-quarantine for two weeks, left the self-quarantine location, a house in Jeonju, with her son on the 14th and visited her sister's house in Seoul.

It was reported that A's boyfriend drove during the trip.

They stopped at a rest area on the highway on their way to Seoul, but it was confirmed that only the boyfriend got out for his business while A and her son stayed in the car.

The responsible official identified the departure through the self-quarantine app and repeatedly called A, but could not reach her.

After arriving at her sister's house, A informed the official via social networking service (SNS) that she had arrived in Seoul.

A stated that she went to her sister's house out of anger after fighting with her cohabiting boyfriend. However, the health center found suspicious points in A's statement, considering that the boyfriend who had argued drove the car all the way to Seoul, and requested a police investigation.

The police have received the complaint from the health center and are conducting an investigation.
