[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Myeong Hyun-gwan, the governor of Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, visited Hwangsan Nam-ri Market on the 18th to support traditional market merchants struggling due to COVID-19 and conducted an on-site inspection for Chuseok.
Meeting with market merchants, Governor Myeong listened to various opinions to overcome the economic downturn caused by the spread of COVID-19 and requested the cooperation of the market merchants.
In particular, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he emphasized refraining from traveling to and from hometowns during this Chuseok holiday and urged everyone to wear masks when using traditional markets to ensure a healthy holiday.
The county has been continuously conducting guidance activities, including disinfection of the five-day markets, temperature checks for visitors, and enforcing mandatory mask-wearing to prevent the community spread of COVID-19.
Additionally, following the support of 10 million KRW per business to all operators in the first half of the year, totaling about 6.6 billion KRW in management stabilization funds for small business owners after the COVID-19 outbreak, Haenam-gun is supporting the revitalization of the economy for small merchants in traditional markets through the expanded issuance of Haenam Love Gift Certificates.
The Haenam Love Gift Certificates, which will be issued up to 115 billion KRW this year, have also been offered with a 7% special discount event since the 14th. Furthermore, 190 low-income market merchants excluded from the emergency management stabilization fund support for small business owners received 100,000 KRW each in local gift certificates.
