On the 18th, 21 individuals honored for contributions to social welfare awarded certificates on the 21st Social Welfare Day... Event scaled down due to COVID-19, online ceremony held using video conferencing system

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) held an 'Award Ceremony for Meritorious Persons in the Field of Social Welfare' on the 18th at the Planning Situation Room to commemorate the '21st Social Welfare Day.'

The district has commemorated Social Welfare Day on September 7 every year and designated the following week as Social Welfare Week, holding commemorative events. However, this year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the event was replaced with a ceremony to award and encourage those who contributed to social welfare.

At the award ceremony, attended by Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Seon-gap, Hwapyeong Sunim, the private chairman of the Gwangjin-gu Community Security Council, and award recipients, awards were presented to 21 individuals, including seven private social welfare institution officials, six members of the Dong Community Security Council, and six public officials who contributed to social welfare.

Additionally, related personnel from social welfare-related organizations and Dong Community Service Centers in the region participated online via a video connection system, sharing a time to commemorate Social Welfare Day together and exchange messages of support.

Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, "On the occasion of Social Welfare Day, I would like to express my gratitude to those who always work hard for the safety and happiness of neighbors in need at the social welfare field," adding, "Although these are difficult and challenging times due to COVID-19, I hope we all join hands in spirit and overcome this together."
