On the 17th (local time), IT tipster Evan Blass disclosed webpage materials including the Galaxy S20 FE's colors, specifications, and camera specs.
Most of the specifications were leaked ahead of Samsung Electronics' "Samsung Galaxy Unpacked for All Fans," where the Galaxy S20 FE will be unveiled on the 23rd. Although rough specifications of the Galaxy S20 FE had already been revealed by tipsters, even the photos to be posted on the official website were fully disclosed. While manufacturers often walk a fine line between "leaks" and "exposure" to generate interest before release, it is unusual for the entire website content to be revealed.
The Galaxy S20 FE is an affordable model that lowers the price by more than 300,000 KRW by utilizing Galaxy S20 components. The domestic release is expected in October, with a likely price range of 800,000 to 900,000 KRW. Amid growing preference for mid-range models, Samsung Electronics is launching the Galaxy S20 FE with reduced specifications as a competitor to the iPhone 12.
Looking at the revealed Galaxy S20 FE specifications, it is equipped with the Snapdragon 865 and supports a 120Hz refresh rate on a 6.5-inch display. The battery capacity is 4500mAh, RAM is up to 8GB, and storage is 128GB with a microSD slot expandable up to 1TB.
The front camera is a 32MP punch-hole type, and the rear cameras include a 12MP ultra-wide, 12MP wide-angle, and 8MP telephoto lens. Additionally, it supports 30x Space Zoom, Night Mode, Single Take, and Super Steady Mode, but the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) feature is excluded. Fast charging supports up to 25W, but only a 15W charger is bundled. It also supports Quick Share and wireless DeX functions.
The Galaxy S20 FE differentiates itself with colors compared to its predecessor. The back has a matte finish and will be available in six colors: Navy, Lavender, Mint, Red, Orange, and White. It is also noteworthy that this largely aligns with the preferences from a survey of Galaxy fans on smartphone feature preferences conducted before the Galaxy S20 FE launch. According to a survey of Samsung Members, the most desired Galaxy device colors were Navy (43%) in first place, Lavender (41%) second, and Mint (39%) third. Following these were White (31%), Brown (22%), Orange (18%), Red (16%), Yellow (14%), and Hot Pink (11%).
