Launch of Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Economy Joint Brand 'Popogre'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) filed a trademark application for ‘Popogre,’ Yeongdeungpo-gu’s social economy joint brand, last August and has completed its registration.

The social economy joint brand was created to develop specialized brands reflecting regional characteristics, thereby expanding communication channels between customers and companies, enhancing awareness of products and services of social economy enterprises, and strengthening the market competitiveness of these enterprises.

Through this trademark registration, the ‘Popogre’ brand will actively support promotional marketing activities of social economy enterprises located in Yeongdeungpo, aiming to strengthen their market competitiveness and open new sales channels.

Additionally, the district explained that with the completion of this trademark registration, property rights for the ‘Popogre’ brand have been secured, enabling stable trademark use.

It was also added that the name ‘Popogre’ is a compound of ‘PO’ from Yeongdeungpo-gu and the mimetic word ‘banggeure,’ which represents a cheerful and gentle smile, conveying a familiar and warm feeling to customers and embodying a promise to sell only good products that make customers smile.

As a result, the district will hold exclusive rights to the Popogre trademark for the next 10 years and plans to actively promote the products and services of social economy enterprises located in Yeongdeungpo using the registered trademark.

As part of the promotional measures, the district completed the establishment of the ‘Popogre Online Media Platform’ last July to enhance the brand awareness of Popogre and strengthen non-face-to-face promotion methods in response to COVID-19.

Social economy enterprises located in Yeongdeungpo can freely upload content to the Popogre online platform, and it is also possible to search for information and products of social economy enterprises within the region.

It is expected that active exchanges and information sharing among social economy enterprises through the Popogre media platform will create greater synergy effects.

Furthermore, the district began recruiting social enterprises wishing to participate in the Popogre project last July and recruited a total of 10 companies in August this year.

Various support will be provided to the 10 companies until November, including storytelling video production for each company, business consulting and planning support, and joint brand package production.
