[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced a comprehensive plan ahead of the Chuseok holiday, focusing on preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and stabilizing people's livelihoods.

This plan was prepared with a focus on current issues to both prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community and revitalize the local economy.

From September 21 to October 4, the county plans to implement seven measures across three areas: ▲ a comfortable and safe Chuseok holiday for all citizens ▲ a warm and abundant Chuseok holiday shared together ▲ a vibrant local economy created by the residents.

In addition, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community, the county will operate a screening clinic and a quarantine task force composed of six members in three teams daily at the public health center to conduct rapid diagnostic tests. Special quarantine measures will be established for bus terminal fever checks, memorial facilities crowded during the Chuseok holiday, traditional markets, and large stores to enforce high-intensity quarantine management.

During the Chuseok holiday period from September 30 to October 4, the county will operate a comprehensive situation room with 38 participants per day (a total of 190 people) from 10 teams, 9 departments, and 11 towns and townships to ensure that all residents have a comfortable and safe Chuseok holiday by establishing and implementing countermeasures.

Through the operation of the Price Countermeasure Comprehensive Situation Room and joint inspections by the local price stabilization task force, the county will focus on managing 15 key Chuseok seasonal items and monitor price trends. It will also revitalize the local economy through the activation of traditional market operations, promotion of consumption, and special discounts on Hamyang Love Gift Certificates.

A county official stated, “Since this holiday season comes amid the crisis of COVID-19, special attention must be paid not only to blocking the spread of infectious diseases but also to preventing various disasters and accidents. We will closely maintain an emergency contact system with related organizations to respond to residents’ inconveniences and emergency situations.”

Meanwhile, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the county has set up an emergency medical countermeasure situation room within the public health center to block community spread, maintain special and thorough quarantine systems, and is promoting a county-wide campaign requesting residents and hometown visitors to refrain from traveling and visiting during the holiday period.
