Gwangju City Announces Public Contest for Private Organizations to Operate Youth Facilities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Lee Yong-seop) announced on the 17th that it will open a public contest for private organizations to operate five youth facilities over three years from next year to 2023.


The facilities to be entrusted are the Gwangju Youth Counseling Welfare Center, Gwangju Youth Activity Promotion Center, Gwangju Out-of-School Youth Support Center, Gwangju Hwajeong Youth Culture House, and Gwangju Wondangsan Youth Culture House.


The operating organizations will be responsible for ▲ various youth-related counseling and psychological testing ▲ development and operation of youth activity programs such as youth activity demand surveys and volunteer activity support ▲ discovery of out-of-school youth programs and customized support for out-of-school youth ▲ promotion of youth character training activities and career education.


Applications are open to youth organizations (corporations) that comply with Article 3, Clause 8 of the Youth Basic Act and Article 2 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act. As of the announcement date, applicants must have at least three years of experience in youth activities, welfare, or protection projects and be corporations or organizations located in Gwangju.


However, organizations (corporations) that have received administrative sanctions under Articles 64 to 66 of the Youth Basic Act, Articles 43 to 45 of the Youth Welfare Support Act, or Articles 70 to 72 of the Youth Activity Promotion Act within the last three years from the announcement date, or whose corporate (organization) representatives or prospective operating representatives fall under Article 15 of the Youth Activity Promotion Act and Article 56, Paragraph 1 of the Act on the Protection of Children and Youth Against Sexual Abuse, will be excluded.


The operating institutions will be selected by a trustee selection review committee composed of experts related to youth, who will evaluate the applicant corporations' (organizations') project execution capabilities and expertise.
