SK Networks Mintit ATM Wins IDEA Design Award Main Prize

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The AI-based unmanned used phone purchase machine 'Mintit ATM' has won the 2020 IDEA Design Award Grand Prize.

SK Networks' information and communication recycling brand Mintit announced on the 17th that it won the Bronze Award in the Digital Interaction category and was a finalist in the Service Design category at IDEA 2020 (International Design Excellence Award).

The IDEA Design Award, held annually in the United States, is considered one of the world's top three design awards along with Germany's Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award. This year, considering the global COVID-19 situation, the awards ceremony was held online.

With this award, Mintit ATM has received the world's most prestigious design award for two consecutive years following last year's Red Dot Award. Mintit ATM received high praise from the IDEA judging panel for applying a user experience (UX)-based design that allows customers to trade their mobile phones easily and simply.

A Mintit representative said, "We believe that implementing an intuitive customer experience for convenient use of the unmanned transaction machine, along with emotional colors and characters to give a friendly feeling, was well received in terms of originality. We will continue to upgrade the service design so that more people can conveniently use Mintit ATM."

Mintit ATM is Korea's first AI-equipped unmanned used phone purchase machine designed to conduct all processes of used phone transactions, including price inquiry, performance check, sale, and donation, contactlessly. Since its launch at the end of July last year, it has been installed in Korea's three major large marts, Samsung Digital Plaza, and government offices. Additionally, the 'Mintit ATM Mini,' which features a reduced device size, immediate data deletion, and UV sterilization functions, is also installed in major SK Telecom stores.
