Chairman Shin Responds, "Will Cooperate Closely with IOC"
On the 3rd, at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, Shin Chang-jae, Chairman of Kyobo Life Insurance, who was appointed as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games, is delivering a greeting speech at the inaugural general meeting of the Organizing Committee.
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Shin Chang-jae, Chairman of Kyobo Life Insurance, received a welcoming message from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) upon his appointment as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.
According to Kyobo Life Insurance on the 17th, Thomas Bach, IOC President, sent a letter to Chairman Shin congratulating him on his appointment as Chairperson and expressing his anticipation for the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.
President Bach stated, "Considering Chairman Shin Chang-jae’s dedication to the development of youth sports and arts and culture, I am confident that this Youth Olympic Games will be a sports festival that unites and transforms young people."
He added, "Under the leadership of the Chairperson, a strong organizing committee has been formed, consisting of several Olympic medalists and executive members who are former athletes. I look forward to collaborating for the successful hosting of the Olympics."
Chairman Shin was appointed as Chairperson of the Organizing Committee at the '2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games Founding General Assembly' held at the Seoul Press Center on the 3rd. His background as a leading business figure who has consistently supported youth arts, culture, and sports activities for over 20 years as CEO of Kyobo Life Insurance and Chairman of the Daesan Cultural Foundation was a key factor in his appointment.

Based on the philosophy of "nurturing youth, the future leaders, into global citizens with healthy physical strength and wisdom for coexistence," Chairman Shin plans to make the Gangwon Youth Olympic Games a rich event in sports and arts and culture.
In his reply to President Bach, Chairman Shin stated, "I will strive to make this event a place where youth from around the world can learn the Olympic spirit of unity and solidarity and grow into responsible global citizens," and added, "I will also work closely with the IOC."
