[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus announced on the 17th that it will launch the industrial wireless communication gateway ‘W-Box’ for remote monitoring in collaboration with Korea Emerson.
The W-Box is a device that utilizes industrial short-range wireless communication technology to interface with various sensors such as vibration sensors and ultrasonic sensors, and collect information. It also transmits the collected sensor information to the server in real time via 5G communication, enabling the establishment of all communication sections required for remote monitoring wirelessly. In particular, the W-Box can interface with various sensors. Apart from power supply, no additional wired installation costs are required. It maximizes the efficiency of implementing smart plants in environments where communication line configuration is difficult, such as outdoors, underground, high places, and hazardous areas.
Through this, it is expected to enable efficient equipment operation by reducing the time required for on-site dispatch for remote equipment management and the cost of communication line construction.
Cho Won-seok, Head of New Business Group (Executive Vice President) at LG Uplus, said, “With the W-Box introduced in collaboration with Korea Emerson, we have significantly lowered the entry barriers to smart plants caused by cost burdens and physical constraints,” adding, “We will help the digital transformation of many companies struggling with equipment management by providing a more popularized smart plant solution.”
